The Search For Salvation - A Study of Christian Art
with Don Little

This year I will present an historical outline showing how early Christian artists attempted to illustrate the life and times of Jesus Christ in man's continuing search for salvation.

Christian Art was the dominating genre in painting for centuries and still is a primary subject for many of today's artists. Their sole source of reference in the creation of their art was the New Testament Bible. This is a study from the history of Christian art. We will look at these works based on Historical evidence and will view them in the context of their own times.

Classes will be held for 5 nights with a choice of two locations...

Adult and Children’s Art Classes by Sister Jeanette

Local artist Sister Jeanette Schregel will be teaching a series of art classes for children and adults at the Market Street Art Center starting in Fall 2010.

DRAWING AND WATERCOLOR CLASSES
Lessons for 10 weeks for $150.00
(Students provide their own art supplies.)

TUESDAYS: 3:00 -- 4:00 BEGINNING ADULTS
(Oct. 5 - Dec. 7)

WEDNESDAYS: 3:00 ADULTS 3rd SESSION
(Oct. 6 - Dec. 15)

FRIDAYS: 2:30 and 3:30 PRIVATE STUDENTS
(Oct. 1 - Dec. 10)

SATURDAYS: 1:00 - 2:00 MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Sister Jeanette, of the Sisters of Saint Mary Namur, has been drawing and painting since her teen years.  She graduated from Potsdam State – Crane School of Music and Catholic University in Washington D.C. with degrees in education and has been teaching art and music, along with math, science and English, for forty-nine years.  Sister Jeanette has only recently started displaying her work having given most of her output away.  Some of her work can be seen at the Market Street Art Center.
